To make it "official" the contact needs to be the old fashion way via letter.
I have been hand pulling weeds on my lakefront using them for compost. What will we have to do with weeds we pull after the chemical is applied?
The chemical is applied in the early spring when growth has begun, but the plants are still small. The Renovate treatment will knock the plants down within a matter of days. Remnants of the plant, which is about 90% water will fall to the bottom. No pulling should be required under this timetable.
What happens if the DEC does not approve our application this year?
Cazenovia has been designated as a priority lake by the DEC and we have every indication that our application will be approved in 2009. If the approval is delayed until 2010 we will will use the funds at the time. If we don't get approval in two years we would offer to return the funds. AT THIS TIME OUR MONETARY REQUEST IS FOR RENOVATE ONLY.
What happens if we do not collect sufficient funds to treat the proposed 248 acres in 2009?
With public support we will have enough funds to treat nearly 1/2 of the the proposed areas for 2009. If we do not collect the full amount, we will still treat the infested areas of the lake but a lesser amount. You might add when people see the treated verses untreated areas it should provide impetus for 2010.
The lake treatment program with Renovate is a 10 year commitment at $800,000 to $1,000,000 and yet you are asking for a two year commitment, where is the rest of the funding coming from?
After year two, it is expected that lake improvements and treatments will come from public sources.
