Oneida Lake Watershed Plan Focus Group Sessions
Register today! Madison County and the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board are developing a watershed plan for the Oneida Lake Watershed and we want to hear from you! We are working with our partners at the Tug Hill Commission and the Herkimer-Oneida Counties Planning Program to hold focus group sessions on issues in the Oneida Lake Watershed. We will be discussing a range of issues, including:
Flooding
Stormwater control
Streambank erosion
Improvements to farms that improve water quality
Forestry practices
Growth & economic development
Municipal regulations and water quality
Septic system impacts
Each two-hour session will start with an hour focused on the natural environment and agriculture, followed by an hour focused on the man-made environment, including homes, roads, and future development in the region. Feel free to attend only the first hour, only the second hour, or the entire meeting.

Workshop on Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) Invasive Species
Finger Lakes PRISM's Terrestrial Invasive Species Team is offering a hands-on workshop focused on the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA). HWA poses a significant threat to the health and abundance of the Finger Lakes Region’s hemlock trees, and in turn the water quality of many lakes. They are seeking volunteers to assist with detection and reporting of infestations strengthens our defense against further hemlock loss. The workshop will guide volunteers through identification of HWA, where to locate it, and how to report it. If this sounds interesting to you, you can register online for a hands-on workshop on February 3 at 9am at the Great Swamp Conservancy in Canastota, a Zoom training on February 6 at 6pm, or a presentation on February 12 at 6:30pm at Cazenovia Public Library.

Meetings are held every month on the third Tuesday of the month, from 7 to 8 PM at The Village Offices in Cazenovia.
